Rich and Rebecca’s Wedding

My sister got married in the beautiful hills of the wine country in California.  I am not sure how she found it, but the location was absolutely perfect for my sister.  She rented out an inn located in Julian, California with about fifty acres in the mountains.  It was a gorgeous location where we could all stay comfortably for the weekend.

Rebecca and Rich had a first look, and took their portraits before the wedding.

Rebecca didn’t want to use cut flowers, so they used potted plants.

The girls all wore brightly colored dresses.

My dad had to do double duty walking her down the aisle, then officiating the ceremony.

The inn had a beautiful patio area where the reception was held.  The weather was perfect and the mountains were in the background.

Rebecca is not the biggest fan of cake, so they had local apple pie.  Apparently the town of Julian is famous for their apple pies.

I could not leave out this cute picture of Kyton. By the end of the day he was so tired. With the time change it was about 1am eastern time, but he loved dancing.

The wedding was absolutely beautiful and perfect for my sister’s personality!

Can we please freeze time?

Kyton is 22 months old, 2 months away from being a two year old!

He talks all the time and is pretty good at communicating what he wants.  He puts words together, and has a decent vocabulary for his age.   He does not enunciate his words too well, so it takes some listening and  learning to figure out what he is saying. He gets upset with me at times when I can’t decipher what he is trying to say.   I think sometimes he interprets phrases as one word like “change you” “over there” or “I love you.”

His new party trick is counting.  He won’t count unless we repeat the numbers that he says, and something exciting always happens on three.

He is great at following directions… when he wants to.  He can follow 2-3 step directions fairly well most of the time, even if it involves different rooms.

He’s obsessed with cars, trucks and motorcycles (moh-moh.) This kid can spot motorcycles across a parking lot.  He loves driving the car and insists on ‘driving’ every time that we get home.  We read mostly car and truck books, and he plays mostly with car and truck toys.

Recently we’ve been spending a few hours every afternoon outdoors.  He loves playing in the dirt, with his playhouse and slide, riding cars, mowing the lawn, or with bubbles.  He loves being outside. He’s a bit of a monkey on the playground and has made some moms nervous.

He is full of energy, and really keeps us going.  If I get him out of the house as much as possible and engage in play with him when we are at home he’s good.  It’s a little hard to take him to other houses right now.  He is very curious and wants to explore their cupboards, find the laundry room and inspect the china.  We’ve started to see the two year tantrums when we tell him no.  Fortunately they don’t last long at all.

He still loves being the center of attention. He’ll make eye contact with strangers when we are out and start chatting with them. He has a contagious personality, and knows how to draw people in.  He loves saying bye bye and blowing kisses.  He says I love you often!

He loves giving us hugs and kisses.  At the end of the day he comes running to us and gives out huge bear hugs.  He still loves being held and cuddling.  We are so blessed to have such a fun, sweet and friendly boy with so much personality!
