Tasty Tuesday - Wheat Andes Mint Cookies
We’ve been working on planning meals and cooking as much as possible. I love taking recipes and making them healthier, so I thought I’d take the next few Tuesdays to share a few of my favorites.Ingredients:
1/2 cup (1 stick of butter) softened
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup white sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla (real not imitation)
2 eggs
10 oz Andes Mint Chips
1 2/3 cups white flour
1 cup wheat flour
Directions:
Heat oven to 350
Blend butter, brown sugar, white granulated sugar, baking soda, baking powder, vanilla and eggs until ingredients are mixed.
Add Andes Baking Chips and mix.
Add Flour and continue to mix until all ingredients are well blended together.
Cover and chill in the refrigerator for about an hour
Spoon out dough onto ungreased cookie sheets
Form a ball and then slightly flatten.
Place on non-stick baking pans or airbrake sheets and bake for approximately 8-10 minutes.
Leave on cookie sheets for about 10 minutes after removing from oven. Move to cooking rack.

Sleepy Morning
After my alarm plays beautiful day by U2 for about the seventh time I pass off the ‘cuddle duty’ to Dylan while I get ready for work.
Most mornings I wish that I could stay in bed and cuddle with my boys.
Somehow daddy can sleep while Kyton grabs his hair.
These were taken in 2 minutes as I was getting ready for work. I love having such a cute model at my disposal.
What are your mornings like?

Leaving my little man
We’ve been up since 5am! Ky decided that he was no longer tired and wanted to play.
I threw a bunch of toys in the playpen in our room, and half slept while he noisily played and chatted.
Now we are watching church online. I love that we can stay at home and attend our church. If we went to church we’d end up in the family room, or nursing room anyway.
I’m leaving Kyton with a friend today so that I can go see my talented husband in My Fair Lady. I’m nervous since he does not take a bottle anymore. When we scheduled this over a month ago I assured her that Ky now easily takes a bottle. I have a few tubs of his favorite solids that should tide him over.
This will be the third time that I left him with non-family, the sixth altogether. My friend is great with babies, has two teenagers, and Kyton loves her. I’m still a nervous mom, and can list 100 reasons I’m worried.
I am super excited for the opportunity to see my husband use his talents, and the rare time that I am not responsible for any children. What you are doing today?

Baby Hair
Everywhere we go people comment on Kyton’s beautiful hair. In the past few months he has stopped gaining weight so quickly, and has started growing the most beautiful read hair! We are happy about both!

Opening Night
It’s opening night for My Fair Lady tonight! Dylan is in his office running through his songs, rehearsing his dancing and making sure that he’s ready to go. Kyton and I are very proud of all the hard work he has put into this musical!
Yesterday he appeared in the paper…

Our Little Drummer Boy
Kyton had just woken up from a nap,
and had a fiery red Mohawk.
He only has hair on top.
These were taken at the same time as the photo shoot with daddy.
I LOVE that sweet smile when he laughs!
I’m generally bad about printing pictures, but these are too cute not to print!
We still have not heard back from his modeling gig on when the pictures will be in print. The last we knew they were editing the images, but these things take time!
We did hear that they were very happy with Kyton, and the agency is keeping us in mind for future baby gigs. Apparently baby modeling gigs are rare since babies are not the easiest to work with.
It’s been a crazy week at work. Meeting every day during my planning time, progress reports, fidelity check, and the list goes on. I’ve been especially behind with Kyton being sick. He wants to be held ALL evening long, and is not happy being down. I’m talking about from 4 to 10 with no nap. Dylan was kind enough to come to school yesterday and help me get caught up by grading papers, and updating my bulletin boards.
I’ve talked before about our sleep issues, and how some days he’s fine. Other days he is awake all night. Now that he is over the teething, and ear infection, it seems that he may be back to sleeping all night. The one strange thing is that when I walk toward his bed at night he screams before I can even lay him in bed. (We used to just lay him down, kiss him goodnight, and walk away.) He still goes down easy during the day, but not at night. I’ve been rocking him to sleep recently. We are thinking that he may remember the ear pain and associate it with laying in his crib at night. As long as he sleeps all night I’m happy to rock him to sleep.
Happy Thursday… Almost Friday!

Drumming with Daddy
Playing drums is, and always has been, one of the best ways to entertain and calm our boy.
I think that the kids was born to be a drummer.

Dylan is now a professional drummer, so hearing a strong beat is a normal part of Kyton’s day.
For Christmas our family gave Kyton rock star clothes.
Ky pretty much loves hitting anything, but drums are the best. He actually had a piano, and set of 5 hand drums and a cow bell in his room. Softly playing drums is one way that Dylan calms Ky before a nap.
Happy Wednesday!

8 months old!
This little boy is 8 months old today!
In the past month he …
had his first professional modeling gig,
cut his first 2 teeth within a week of each other,
which resulted in suffered through his first ear infection and a visit to the ER.
The one positive to this, is that he been even more cuddly these past few weeks.
I’m pretty sure he knows all the lines and songs for My Fair Lady.
Kyton LOVES hearing daddy sing and watching him practice his dance.
He no longer stays where we lay him,
loves getting into anything off limits,
and has learned to get into a crawling position.
His hair has turned even more vibrant red,
he cries as soon as I walk in the door from work,
and he has decided that he won’t drink from a bottle anymore.
Kyton’s has made us laugh and smile more times in the past month than I can count!
We are amazed every day at the precious gift God has loaned to us to care for.
Happy 8 month birthday little boy!
