A quaint river town

Notice the new blog background?  I’ve been working on a new design for a while now.  I wanted something clean and fresh.  I also wanted something that was my own, and reflected my style.  I’ve also been working on a few other changes, but I’m not ready to make them live yet.

The town of Saint Mary’s is located along the coast in Southern Georgia. It must be the most southern town in Georgia.
Sunday-3
We visited on a Sunday morning, and realized we were in the bible belt.  Everyone was dressed in their Sunday best and heading to church and nothing was open.  (Left image below is straight out of the camera.  )

We had planned to hike and swim, so felt a little scrubby getting out of our car next to well dressed families.
Sunday-1
We considered getting on a boat to visit Cumberland Island. It is a primitive Island accessible only by boat.

Look at the sky in these pictures… Would you have gone?  They don’t have shelters on the island, and you have to hike to get anywhere.  Honestly it sounded fun, we love that sort of thing… but not when it is threatening thunderstorms.  Sunday-4
We ended up visiting a beach that is across the water in Florida, but visible from the island.  The are we visited was an island as well, but accessible by car.  Oh, and somehow we were really blessed to be able to only have storms when were were in the car, and not when we were outside the entire weekend.

I loves the lines created by the masts of the boats.  Sunday-7
This area reminded me of Savannah.st mary fountain

Dylan says he now understands why they sit on their front porch and sip tea in the south.   riverfront-3
It’s too hot to do much else.

Thanks so much for all of your comments. Jan, Sorry for the typo, it was Saint Mary's. Although Satin Mary would be an interesting name...
