The meaning of Easter

The other day I found myself in a new part of town, with a little time, and of course my camera.
I saw a sign along the side of the road point to the Disney Wilderness Preserve and made a U-turn.

When I began driving along the windy road, I had hopes of a beautiful, lush, green park.
...but all that I saw was dead grass
I became discouraged and disappointed
I realized , this is the best there is, I guess I'll have to settle for this (above is sooc)
the further into the preserve I drove,
 the more death I saw.
I pulled the car over and took pictures of the crisp brown straw grass.
I got back in the car to leave and just out of my sight at the time,
there was a beautiful, wonderful, green, lush area!
with hiking paths,

and life!

As I think of Easter I am reminded of the dark days during Jesus' death when his followers were surely discouraged and wondering when they would see the promises and life they had anticipated.  Easter is celebrated because of the LIFE that Jesus has given to us.

What does Easter mean to you?

I love wild areas, and the muted colour in the fifth picture is lovely. I've no idea of the type of plant you show in the sooc shot.

Easter to me reminds me of man's inhumanity to his fellow man, lies and corruption and greed, after all, this isn't about the Easter bunny and marshmellow chicks...it's about change and hope and promise...to become more Christlike in our thinking...we've got a long row to hoe!!!

And to me the beauty of the Florida pampas is far more beautiful in it's natural state than the rows of condos that pock the landscape of the Orlando area, again man's greed is drying up the ancient beauty that was Florida.

Wow! Beautiful pictures! About the jumping photo, I don't really know about shutter speed and stuff so I couldn't tell you. I just counted to three and she jumped. Lucky shot I guess...Thanks for taking the time to look at my pics! Love yours!

Amazing shots. Stop, look & feel are the 3 words to think.

Happy Easter.

Easter is truly about Jesus dying for our (everybody's) sins, a terrible death. Of course, that death was vindicated on the third day...

Perhaps we need to understand life's failures to learn how success can be found by learning from such failures. Perhaps to apply to the metaphor here, to see and appreciate the true beauty in the woods is after seeing less than beautiful lands. By continuing further you were finally treated to this. The payoff is at the end of the journey...

In every place, we see this kind of view but one thing to hope that this place will not be always like this, there is always life.
