As you can see from the pictures we were able to climb the highest ruin. It looked like it would be a difficult climb and the stairs were extremely steep, but we were to the top before we knew it. The view from the top was amazing and we could even see Guatemala. I can't help but wonder if this was in the US, would they allow visitors to climb up. My guess is that for liability reasons and historical preservation they would not allow it.

Ruby Tuesday
Visit Ruby Tuesday to see others.
As we were waiting to get back on the boat to go back we saw this guy in the tree. Come back Friday to see another interesting native animal we saw. Any guesses?

I am only guessing that this ruby fellow is a simian of some type. Probably just sitting amused up there as the tourists below are fumbling their cameras to photograph him before he changes his position...
Interesting post. The steps look rather dangerous.
that's exciting!

What a fabulous place to visit! You have a great photo collection of your adventures and it's very enjoyable to tag along with you! That critter in the tree is awesome! Glad it stayed there! Great post, Carly!
Beautiful, beautiful Belize. Shown off perfectly in your photos. It looks like an amazing trip!
Hi Carly. We spent a month in beautiful Belize about 20 years ago; thanks for bringing back memories! We had the same thoughts back then about how open and accessible all these wonders are. There was an ancient stele' (spelling?) monument just out in the open, not even a fence. But no vandalism. I'm sure here it would have been chipped at. It's a beautiful country. We loved our visit there.
aww..what a beautiful place and i'd definitely want to climb that ruin. I wonder what kind of critter is that..it looks so unique!
