Service project and the beach

Many of my pictures today are from a service project that I worked on this weekend where we built a wheel chair ramp.  I combined a few days of pictures below.

The board that you see in the foreground was used as a spacer for the railing.  I know that you are probably wondering why I took pictures instead of working, well... There were 2 kinds of people skilled, and novice.  I know a little about construction and with direction, could have helped, but I am definitely considered novice.  Unfortunately, there were few things that I was able to do, and I spent most of the day standing around.  It was FRUSTRATING!!  It was such a busy weekend and I would not have minded sacrificing my time to help others, if I was helping.  I felt like I really wasted my time.  On the bright side, we were able to lay the actual ramp down for about 1/3 of the ramp, and I did get a few neat shots.

Sunday Stills

Over at Sunday Stills the theme this week is Fins, Feathers and Fur.  I am fairly certain that this is not what they had in mind, but you have to admit this is a pretty neat picture!  My hubby was not home tonight and I found this guy (or girl) in the curtains.  After taking pictures of him I hit him with a broom, and swept his wounded body outside.  After reading Charlotte's Web as a child I have a hard time killing spiders.

Mellow Yellow Monday

I was a bad kitty mom on Sunday... As we were getting ready for a party on Sunday I noticed the cat drinking out of the ice bucket because his water dish was empty.

Mosaic Monday
I call this "Foot prints in the sand"  I went to the local beach just after sunset and found all of these foot prints left in the sand.  To me it was a reminder that we never know the print that we leave behind.

Be sure to visit Mosaic Monday!

One of my favorite places to spend time is the lake at the end of our road.  I enjoy running and walking and there is always a cool breeze next to the water.  It is peaceful and serine and is the habitat to many varieties of wildlife.  There is a path along the lake, but my favorite part to walk is the sandy beach.  (In Blue Monday you can see the entry way from the path to the sand.)

The sunsets are amazing!

The sky is incredible!

And the white sand feels refreshing between my toes.

Wonderful pictures! I wandered here thru Mary's Mosaic Monday -- LOVE your footprint collage. It took me a moment to realize just how many different species had left those footprints. What a lovely idea.

Love all the shots. You did a great job with the ramp. That spider pictures is so gross but mesmerizing. I love the theme you used it for, I bet they will be surprised with that fur!

Wow, I could have sworn I posted here yesterday, I think I'm getting old.

I love all your photos! That spider is really creepy, I'd kill it no problem.

In answer to your question on my blog, Wednesdays are field trip days so I always have the camera with me then. I was going to the banks of the Mississippi once a week as well; but we haven't had the time or the weather lately.
