Sleeping on the Beach in Malibu

While in California we went camping in Malibu.  During the day Dylan and I had a rare day to ourselves where we saw a taping of the Tonight Show.  Kyton went with my sisters to the Aquarium of the Pacific.  They said that he had so much fun that he did not even seem to care that his parents were not with him.  We were happy that he did so well and had fun.

While Dylan, Kyton and I slept in the huge red tent in the background, Sharon and Jess slept in the white tent below.  When we woke up in the morning, we could not find my sister Rebecca.  After a bit of searching, we found her here.  My pregnant sister slept in a mummy bag just feet away from the pacific ocean under the stars.

I love this pose!  Kyton once again did not want to wear shoes, but I think he looks like  a mountain man.

He loved running to the street, playing in the sand, eating rocks and climbing around.

Apparently Malibu is where a lot of celebrities live, but we did not see any… that we know of.

It was a gorgeous camp site in a beautiful location.

Marshmallow Drop

I’ve never seen this before, but our friends invited us to their community marshmallow drop.

A helicopter flew in, and dropped bags and bags of  marshmallows onto the baseball diamond.

The kids ran in and grabbed the treats.  At the end, the marshmallows were thrown away and all of the kids were given a treat bag.  Kyton had fun, and it was interesting to see, but I am not a big fan of wasting so much food.  It seems like they could have used small plastic balls  cotton balls that could be used in future years.

Kyton really enjoyed the church that had a small egg hunt for the kids.

He got a piece of candy and clutched onto it.  I don’t think that he really understands yet that inside the packaging is a sweet treat.

Kyton had a great time playing with his friends and running around the grass.

Going Shoe-less at the San Diego Zoo

The other day I posted pictures of my sisters wedding. As it turned out, spring break was the same week, so we were able to take a bit of a vacation while in California.  We visited the San Diego Zoo!

Kyton was in a strange phase where he hated shoes.  Most of the day he wore only one shoe.  He would get mad if we tried to put on the other shoe, and he was mad if we tried to take off his one shoe.  He’s a silly boy! People kept telling us over and over all day long, “your son is missing a shoe!”

We got to see the world famous pandas!

The baby panda was in the tree, and about to fall out.  Apparently they often fall, and are unhurt.  Dylan and my dad were actually hoping that the panda would fall so they could see it.

Kyton enjoyed the animals, but I’m pretty sure his favorite part was the playground areas.
